Planet Gold was originally established by Will Lawton in 2002. The aim of the company was to provide creative, unusual and one-off events for private and corporate clients.
As regular customers began to understand and gain faith in the fact that Planet Gold could organise virtually any event, of any size and nature, the company began to develop and grow. A vast network of hard working crew, reliable suppliers, repeat and word of mouth business enabled the company to organically expand at a steady yet exciting rate.
In 2003, one of our most respected and dependable suppliers, Temple Décor, announced that they were selling off all their décor and Planet Gold purchased their brand new Ice Palace décor. This opened an exciting new doorway for the company as we now had the in-house ability to transform large, well known and established venues for our own events and our range of décor began to expand.
Planet Gold also became intrinsically involved with staging a free public music festival called ‘Combe Sunday' which attracted 4,000 people to the village of Castle Combe, Wiltshire in 2004 and again in 2006. Raising money for charity, this event linked the company with many talented live bands and an exciting outdoor catering outfit, Combe Valley Catering. This event also allowed us to begin to understand the nature of staging public events on public land.
Major festivals and event companies began to book our décor independently of our growing event management business. In order to satisfy demand and to allow the décor side of the business to flourish, Planet Gold was split into two separate limited companies in 2007, Planet Gold Events Ltd and Planet Gold Décor Ltd.
Both companies operate from the same rural Wiltshire business park. The events are managed from our recently refurbished luxury cow shed offices and the décor, lighting and other equipment is created and stored in our large workshop, just a stones throw away.
Planet Gold is a highly environmentally conscious company. We are not interested in off-setting carbon after its creation….we are simply passionate about providing events in the great outdoors that have a positive benefit on local environments and communities and create the absolute minimum amount of waste.
We recycle event waste wherever possible, do everything we can to avoid introducing plastic as a disposable item on events, have recently refurbished our offices and workshop using reclaimed materials and always leave an event site in the same, if not better, state than we found it.
We want guests to positively benefit from experiences that are truly memorable and unique. We look forward to future years of providing exciting, one-off, unusual events that are a challenge to organise and fun to run.
