History and Evolution
Planet Gold was originally established by Will Lawton in 2002. The aim of the company was to provide creative, unusual and one-off events for private and corporate clients.
As customers began to understand and gain faith in the fact that Planet Gold could organise virtually any event, of any size and nature, the company began to develop and grow. A vast network of hard working crew, reliable suppliers, repeat and word of mouth business enabled the company to organically expand at a steady yet exciting rate.
Planet Gold became intrinsically involved with staging a public festival called ‘Combe Sunday' which attracted 4,000 people to the village of Castle Combe in 2004 and again in 2006. Raising money for charity, this event linked the company to an exciting outdoor catering outfit, a whole host of live bands and allowed us to understand the nature of staging public events on public land.
One of our most respected and dependable suppliers were a company called Temple Décor. Whenever we were given the task of transforming a huge space into a vibrant party atmosphere then this company was brought in as specialists in transmogrification. In 2003, we were informed that Temple Décor was selling off their stock and we were given the option of purchasing their brand-new Ice Palace décor. This opened a new doorway for Planet Gold.
Planet Gold became involved with transforming large, well known and established venues for our own events. Events companies within the industry began to book us and the décor side of the business began to grow hand in hand with the event management side of the business.
Due to demand for our services, Planet Gold was split into two separate limited companies in 2007……Planet Gold Events Ltd and Planet Gold Décor Ltd. Reliant on three key members of crew for production and installation of décor, the company offered Colin de Silva, Harry Penfold and Philip Radford a share and directorship in the décor business allowing the business to grow and fill it's potential.
And that is where is are today. The Planet Gold umbrella encompasses a successful and proven event management company with a boundary breaking and totally unique in-house décor company. You will not find another company like us anywhere.
Environmental Policy
Planet Gold is committed to supporting the evolution of sustainable events. We are focused on minimalising and eliminating waste and emissions rather than off-setting carbon after it’s creation. We would like to encourage our clients to invest their event budgets into providing events that create minimal waste and, where possible, have a positive benefit on local environments and communities. Internally, we have recently refurbished our offices and workshop using reclaimed materials and operate a company recycling system.
